Return of the Jedi Studio Photoprints. A very special Star Wars Collectable, we have a number of Original Star Wars The Return of the Jedi pre-production black and white prints, each print comes on Kodak glossy paper, all of the prints are 100% genuine and come straight from Lucas Film, these prints were originally given to a design company prior to the release of Return of the Jedi and were used for reference of the different creatures, vehicles and scenes which were to be featured in the Return of the Jedi movie. In the early 1980’s Samson Graphics established itself as the ‘go to’ studio for artwork that would be reproduced on tapered, plastic fountain beverage cups. Canada Cup of Toronto, Ontario, Canada perfected the process of printing process colour using a six colour rotary letterpress and photo polymer printing plates. There was no competitor in North America capable of matching the quality they had achieved. The taper was necessary to allow ‘nesting’ of the cups within each other for stacking and packing in cartons. This company was hired by Coca-Cola to design and create 24 illustrations for a Jedi series of collectable cups prior to the movie release. They also created two artworks for ‘Point of Sale’ signage and would report direct to Canada Cup and Lucas film for approval on the illustrations. The Jedi collectable cups were intended to help drive sales of fountain beverages and it certainly worked because several months after the launch they had delivered over 35 million cups throughout Canada, the US and into the Caribbean. During the next five year they produced hundreds of designs for collectable cups covering North American baseball, hockey, football, Tall Ships, Steven Spielberg’s Gremlins and numerous smaller properties. In the coming weeks I will be offering some of these collectable beverage cups out for sale but for the time being we have a number of these original Lucas Film black and white prints, they all come with the official Lucas Film Stamp on them as well as being able to track there history and have it certified by just contacting Samson Graphics in Canada, each print which you are viewing is the image only which are 6.375" x 9" on 8" 10" Kodak glossy paper and all images originally came from Lucas film 3 hole punched as the example bellow shows.
